Join Anna Aarons and special guests as they take a look at some of the most inspirational female songwriters of our time and how these iconic women in music continue to shape the music of today. Covering a range of artists from the likes of Joni Mitchell, Carole King to Adele and Amy Winehouse, Anna & friends also perform their original music to show audiences how these women have inspired them as songwriters.
Anna Aarons has achieved multiple sold-out shows at PizzaExpress Live with her successful tribute evening, In Memory of Amy, dedicated to the late, great Amy Winehouse. In 2022 she also performed a tribute to the late Eva Cassidy – a singer who always performed unique covers of well known songs. Having successfully tributed these two great singers (and songwriter in Winehouse’s case), Aarons produced a new show exclusively for Pizza Express Live in 2023, that pays homage to a great array of female singers and songwriters of our time, however this time including original music to show how these iconic female singers and songwriters live on in new music.
Anna Aarons began her singing career as a busker on the London Underground where she often got likened to the late, great Amy Winehouse. This then inspired her to produce her multiple sold-out show ‘In Memory of Amy’ which she performs annually with her 7 piece band at Pizza Express Live. Anna’s original music is a range of soul inspired pop, all inspired by familial influences in her life. She recently gained a Masters degree in Music Business from Tileyard Education.
The voice behind the Mercedes EQS advert, Louise Golbey is a an established artist who’s played at Glastonbury and Isle of Wight festivals, recorded at Maida Vale for the BBC and performs
Regularly at London’s most iconic venues. Not only has she played alongside the likes of Paloma Faith, Jessie J, Sam Smith, Lianne Lahavas & Ed Sheeran (who is also in one of her music videos).
But she is one of the most in demand support acts who has opened for George Benson, En Vogue, Roberta Flack, The Stylistics, and Roy Ayers, Evelyn Champagne King, Omar, Heatwave and Eric Benet.
Louise also performed at The o2 arena for the Electric Soul Festival in 2019 (hosted by Trevor Nelson) alongside Kool and The Gang, Brand New Heavies and Level 42.
Female Songwriters of Our Time
She has written tracks with Example, The Newham Generals and Dan Dare (who was behind the Joel Corry /MKEK hit Head n Heart in 2020) and is currently working with Grammy winning songwriter Rob Davis (‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’).
And Louise has written for TV series, film and adverts. She also hosts The Songwriter’s Podcast in association with The Ivors Academy and PRS for Music M Magazine.
Louise recently released her second studio album ‘Renaissance’ which has been very well received and showcases Louise’s strongest and most personal recordings to date.
Jordan Jackson is a singer and pianist from London, UK now based in Copenhagen. Since moving to Denmark she has performed with prolific jazz pianist Niels Lan Doky. Having played at prestigious venues such as London’s Ronnie Scott’s Bar, The Jazz Cafe she also had https://kissbrides.com/pt-pt/bulgaro-mulheres/ the honour of opening for the likes of Incognito, The Sugar Hill Gang, Glorya Gaynor and O. With a love for intimate concerts, Jordan has received fantastic responses after playing for Sofar Sounds at their popular living room shows including in Malmo, Cologne, Tallinn, Copenhagen and London. Her recent highlights have been headlining at Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen and Pizza Express in London.
Combining rhythmic fingerstyle guitar and a voice that ‘evokes Joni Mitchell at her very best’ according to Folk Radio UK, Zoe Wren puts a ‘refreshingly bold’ twist on her folk influences. Since launching her career as a London Underground busker, Zoe has played shows from Towersey to Cambridge Folk Festival, to opening for Ralph McTell, and now livestreams as a Twitch Partner to thousands of viewers worldwide each week. Her songs have been heard on BBC Radio 2 and featured in Clash Magazine and her debut album Reckless River was named Fatea’s Debut Album of the Year 2020.
